Overview: (Coming Soon!) An overview of Topsfields History and Social Science Curriculum is under development. The Department of Education has revised the Frameworks several times over the last few years. Currently, curriculum teams are aligning curriculum to support the newly adopted Frameworks. Our work will be refined and posted during the 04-05 school year. Teachers currently use a myriad of resources to differentiate and enrich the curriculum. In third grade, the Massachusetts Adventure text supports students learning about the early history of Massachusetts. In grades 4 students use the Social Studies Alive program to learn about the geography of the United States. In grades 5-6 students use both the History Alive! and the Houghton Mifflin text. Grade 5 focuses on a more in-depth study of early American history and Grade 6 focuses on the history of the Ancient World. World Geography is taught in grade seven at Masconomet Regional School. Curriculum maps, currently under development, can be found by clicking on the links to the left. Social Studies Alive Resources
