Overview
Topsfield’s Spanish program aims to enrich student’s
awareness of the language and broaden our learner’s ability to understand diversity
in a multi-cultural world. The cultural component is important and integrated in many ways
throughout our curriculum. In the primary grades, when students are most
ready, speaking and listening skills are stressed as students develop an ear for the
language. As such, we work primarily with
oral language rather than written texts. In
grades 4-5, we build on foundational skills and begin to develop student’s ability to
read and write in the language in preparation for a more formal unit of study.
