Changing Fractions to Decimals

  Example:

Change 1/4 to a decimal

There are three strategies you can use for changing Fractions to Decimals:

Strategy #1 : If the fraction is a "benchmark fraction", you may already know the
                     corresponding decimal.

1/4   is familiar and is equal to .25

Strategy #2: Change the denominator to a power of ten by multiplying or dividing
it by a whole number(remember: do the same to the numerator).

Multipy 1/4 by 25/25  to get 25/100, which can be rewritten as .25

Strategy #3: Divide the numerator by the denominator.

                     1 divided by 4 equals .25
