The second grade reading program is a supplementary program of instruction as part of a strong comprehensive approach to bring all students to literacy.  We coordinate and deliver instruction and support to small groups of students in order to meet their individual needs.  The children meet with me three times a week to develop effective reading strategies. Each second grade student is assessed to determine who would benefit  most from this additional support.  I work closely with the classroom teachers to coordinate instruction and schedule lessons. As a result the children receive the support they need without missing any other important classroom activities.
