MUSIC
Tuesday, May 6
9:15 a.m. Grade Three
All parents, relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Steward Elementary School concerts, hosted in the cafeteria.
Children should dress up for the performances. They should come with shoes or sneakers, as flip-flops and clogs pose a danger
on the choral risers.
Third Grade Parents - Beginning in January, each third-grader will learn how to play the recorder. Although the school will loan each student an instrument, many families prefer to purchase recorders for their children. Most music and toy stores carry a suitable recorder for about $5. Every student should practice the recorder for 10 minutes a day, five days a week.
* Blow gently, saying the syllable “do”
* Teeth and tongue never touch the mouthpiece
* Left hand goes on top
* Check the fingering chart

will find a recorder fingering chart as well as links to other sites suitable for children.
We encourage families to attend concerts throughout the year both at Steward and throughout New England. Sing, dance, and enjoy music with your family!
