1) Three ways to get started using Power Point 2000:

Template
i)
Provides you with different preset
backgrounds
c) Blank
Presentation
i)
You are on your own to create the
background of your choice and your own information
ii)
This is what we teach our students
2) If using a Blank Presentation:
a) First
choose a background
i)
Go to Format: - Background:
click on the black triangle (points down) and select a color,
more colors or fill effects
ii)
If you choose fill effects you will get
4 choices:
(1)
Gradient
(a) Lots of choices
of blending colors for special effects J
(2) Texture
(a) Some different
looks like marble, sand, water, rug etc
(3)
Pattern
(a) These can get a
bit busy. I dont recommend these unless used with light colors
(4)
Picture
(a) You already need
to have a picture saved in My Pictures to do this
(b) Press Select Picture:
find your picture and select it
iii) Now
select Apply to All or Apply

It is best to have your slides uniform so Apply to All is the best
choice
b) Now
you are ready to add your text, pictures and graphics:
i)
Go to Insert New
Slide and choose the style slide you want
c) Now
you are ready to type your information:
i)
To delete a text box you need first to
reshape it then click on it to delete it using the backspace key
d) To add clip art you can copy and paste from the internet or go to Insert Picture Clip Art or From File
e) To
add graphic organizers or graphs:
i)
Copy and paste from Inspiration and/or
Excel
ii)
Or use their webbing and graphing
f) To
add animation to text, clipart and graphics go to Slideshow
i)
Preset Animation

You will get 13 choices but you will get fewer options
ii)
Custom Animation
(1)
Opens a window of many choices
(a) Select the Order
& Timing
(b) Mouse click or
automatic after _:_ seconds
(c) Effects
entry and sound
(d) Chart effects
(e) Multimedia
Settings
g) To
add transitions go to Slideshow

Slide Transition
